With the start of the elections on April 12, 2026, artificial intelligence (AI) emerges as a key tool to combat misinformation in Peru. Google has implemented technologies that facilitate access to electoral information, enabling citizens to make more informed decisions. Google’s generative AI helps simplify the understanding of government plans. Although the documents from the National Jury of Elections (JNE) are comprehensive, they can be overwhelming. With tools like NotebookLM, users can make specific inquiries about candidates’ proposals, such as ‘What does this candidate propose regarding health in rural areas?’ Additionally, Gemini acts as an assistant to understand complex debates and news. It allows voters to ask questions like, ‘What are the main pillars currently being debated regarding pension reform in Peru?’ Furthermore, Google News highlights the work of fact-checkers, reinforcing transparency in the electoral process. Among the useful tools are: comparing government plans with NotebookLM and validating visual content through Google Lens. This provides citizens with the necessary tools to confront misinformation and actively participate in the electoral process.
