Shooting at Peña Los Andes in Independencia Leaves One Dead and Two Injured; Extortion Allegations Raised

An armed attack at Peña Los Andes, located in the district of Independencia, resulted in a tragic toll of one dead and two injured. The incident occurred on the night of Saturday, March 21, during a performance by singer Rey Vico and other artists. According to witnesses, at least four individuals on two motorcycles opened fire at the entrance gate of the venue. The victims were part of the establishment’s security team. The deceased, identified as José Dante Valdera Cachay, 42, had been working at the location for three years. The injured were taken to Clínica Jesús del Norte, located just three blocks from the scene of the incident.

This attack adds to a series of prior threats and extortions that the nightclub had suffered, as reported by the artists present. Following the event, Peña Los Andes announced the suspension of all its activities via social media, prioritizing the safety of its audience and staff. This violent incident occurs just a week after another similar event in the same area, raising concerns among local residents and artists.
