Magnitude 4.4 Earthquake Recorded in Tacna Early This Morning, According to IGP

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.4 was recorded early this morning in Tacna, specifically at 3:02 a.m., 53 kilometers east of Calana. The depth of the tremor was 137 kilometers, according to a report from the Geophysical Institute of Peru (IGP). Authorities have urged the population to remain calm and prepare for possible aftershocks.

In the event of an earthquake, it is recommended to seek safe areas and pay attention to vulnerable individuals, such as children and the elderly. Additionally, it is crucial to stay away from windows and objects that may fall. In this regard, the National Institute of Civil Defense suggests having an emergency backpack ready. This should include hygiene products, a first aid kit, non-perishable food, and communication items such as a flashlight and a battery-operated radio. These items are vital for facing any eventuality following an earthquake.
