Capture of Hitman in Piura: Who is Jhon Aponte and the Crimes He Committed

In a swift operation, the Piura Police arrested Jhon Alexander Aponte Saavedra, 21, known as Mocha, a suspected hitman linked to the murder of businessman Víctor Agurto Vílchez and PNP sub-officer Kevin Quezada Morales. The attack occurred on March 30, when both were ambushed with gunfire in front of the Quiroga hardware store in Sullana. The capture took place at 9:30 AM on Áncash Avenue, thanks to information gathered by Dirincri. Officers, along with personnel from the PNP El Obrero police station, intervened in a property where they found 35 9mm cartridges. The murder happened just before midnight, near the Kaskadas nightclub. The victims were attacked while passing through the area. By the time the local security arrived, the assailants had already fled. This crime adds to the growing concern in Sullana, which had only days earlier been the scene of the murder of two workers, intensifying the community’s demands for effective security measures. Agurto was the owner of the recreational center El Emporio in Marcavelica. So far, it has not been confirmed whether the victims were targets of extortion.
