Police Officer Injured in Ate: Details of the Assault and Health Status

A police officer from the National Police of Peru, identified as Edgar Galván Bastidas, was injured while attempting to thwart an assault in the district of Ate, specifically in the R zone of Huaycán. The incident occurred on the night of Monday, March 30, when the officer, who was off duty and dressed in civilian clothes, was shot in the abdomen during a confrontation with the assailants. In addition to the officer, two civilians who were being robbed also sustained injuries. The assailants managed to escape the scene after the attack.

To assist the officer, arrangements were made for his evacuation to a municipal sports facility, from where he was airlifted to the National PNP Hospital Luis Sáenz in Jesús María. His health status is reported as serious. The injured civilians were taken to the Ate emergency center. At the site of the assault, forensic experts found 10 bullet casings. The area was cordoned off to initiate investigations and locate the perpetrators.

In light of the increasing insecurity in Huaycán, residents have requested an increase in police patrols, demanding greater protection for the community.
