Landslide in Machu Picchu: Train Services Suspended Until Further Notice and Damage to the Tracks

A landslide that occurred on the morning of March 30 in the Mandor area of Machu Picchu has interrupted rail traffic between Hidroeléctrica and Machupicchu Pueblo. This slide, which took place at kilometer PK 115+200, caused significant damage to the railway infrastructure, although fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

Transandino Railway S.A. (FTSA) announced the suspension of service due to the impact on the tracks. The company highlighted that a team of engineers has already been dispatched to the area to assess the damage and plan the necessary repairs. Meanwhile, PeruRail also suspended its operations on this route and is providing assistance to affected passengers.

Local authorities, including the District Municipality of Machupicchu, are working in the affected area to restore service as soon as possible. Users have been urged to take precautions regarding potential delays and to stay informed about the resumption of operations.
