Accident on the Panamericana Sur TODAY: Two Sisters and a Driver Die

A tragic traffic accident on the Panamericana Sur, near Ica, resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including two sisters. The incident occurred at 3:00 a.m. on Monday, March 30, when a taxi transporting them collided with an interprovincial bus from the Reyna company. The victims, identified as Ariana and Betzaida Pumarina Ortiz, were originally from Caravelí, Arequipa, and were visiting the region.

In a video circulating on social media, they can be seen enjoying time with their mother just hours before the accident. The taxi driver, Jorge Vásquez Castro, also died in the crash, leaving a minor orphaned. Security camera footage shows that the taxi made a risky maneuver while attempting to enter the district of Subtanjalla, at which point it was struck by the bus.

The National Police of Peru has initiated an investigation to determine the causes of the accident and will gather testimonies to clarify this unfortunate event. According to traffic agents, visibility in the area was adequate at the time of the impact, suggesting that recklessness may have been a key factor in the accident.
