Section of 28 de Julio Avenue Reopens After 5 Years of Closure Due to Lima Metro Works

On March 25, the Municipality of La Victoria announced the reopening of a section of 28 de Julio Avenue, which had been closed for five years due to the construction of Line 2 of the Lima Metro. This new development comes in the context of the work being done at the Manco Cápac station, freeing up approximately 150 meters of roadway that will improve vehicular traffic in the capital.

The reactivation of this route will allow around nine public transport companies to resume their usual circulation towards downtown Lima. Prior to this reopening, vehicles had to divert through other avenues, causing delays in travel times.

The Manco Cápac station is reported to be nearly 99% complete, according to local authorities. Additionally, improvements have been made to roadways, sidewalks, and green areas. The National Police of Peru has also joined in regulating traffic on the newly opened lanes.

This progress is part of the development of Line 2, which was reported to be 86% complete as of March 17, and is expected to transport more than 660,000 passengers daily, with projections to exceed one million by 2030.
