The violence against public transport in Lima has reached alarming levels following three attacks that occurred on the night of Tuesday, March 24. These assaults, which took place in the districts of Comas, Ate, and Villa El Salvador, resulted in a tragic toll: one driver dead and several injured.

In Comas, driver Malaquías Segundo Céspedes Huisa was killed while driving a bus for the company Real Star del Perú S.A.C. in the Trapiche area. Witnesses report that at least four attackers on motorcycles fired at the vehicle. Although the driver was taken to the hospital, he did not survive his injuries.

In Ate, a group of hitmen shot at a minibus on the Lima–Huaycán route, resulting in five people injured. The attackers, allegedly belonging to the criminal gang Los MX, left an extortion message after the attack. Authorities have launched operations to capture those responsible.

Finally, in Villa El Salvador, a driver for the company ‘Los Chinos’ was shot by a fake passenger. Despite being hit by two bullets, he managed to survive thanks to the quick intervention of his collector, who took him to the hospital where he is currently in serious condition.
