The Grau Expressway, a 2.8-kilometer road corridor, is progressing with the aim of connecting Carabayllo and Villa El Salvador in just 45 minutes. The Metropolitan Municipality of Lima (MML) reported that this project integrates the Metropolitano with Line 1 of the Lima Metro through four stations, thereby improving the mass transportation system.
Lima’s mayor, Renzo Reggiardo, supervised the work and highlighted that the Abancay and Andahuaylas stations are already 90% and 95% complete, respectively. Regarding the road infrastructure, the concrete pavement has been completed on the stretch between Plaza Grau and Jirón Junín, while excavations for the Parinacochas/Huánuco station are set to begin next week.
Additionally, in February 2026, the construction of a transfer station will commence to facilitate the change between the Metropolitano and Line 1. This station will include a pedestrian viaduct and a greening plan, which, according to the MML, is already 80% complete in planting palm trees and other trees in the corridor area.
