Last Sunday, a bold robbery in Costa Verde left authorities perplexed. A group of criminals made off with two boxes containing 8 kilos of gold, valued at approximately 1 million dollars. The incident occurred near San Miguel, where the thieves, using vehicles and motorcycles, carried out the heist in two groups. So far, there are no leads on the whereabouts of the gold or the culprits.
The police are investigating a suspect identified as L.Q.R.R., while witnesses Elmer Valverde and César Sernaque have provided details about the incident. Both stated that the gold was being transported from Miraflores to the Andean Airport Services (SAASA) when they were intercepted.
During the attack, two people were injured, although none seriously. The situation has raised concerns, especially since the owner of the gold has not filed a formal complaint so far. According to former Dirincri director César Guardia, the lack of a complaint could suggest that the gold comes from illegal activities.
Authorities have requested the analysis of security footage from the area and other elements that may help clarify this case.
