Loreto: Over 200 Kilos of Drugs Seized, Causing $92,000 Loss to Drug Trafficking Organizations at the Triple Border

In a recent mega-operation at the triple border between Peru, Colombia, and Brazil, authorities seized over 200 kilos of drugs, resulting in losses close to $92,000 for drug trafficking organizations. The operation, carried out by the Dirandro of Iquitos and the PUMA Command, took place in the native community of San Martín de Arauana, located in the Ramón Castilla district, province of Mariscal Ramón Castilla.

During the intervention, agents destroyed three drug processing laboratories and three camps used by these mafias. A total of 223 kilograms of liquid drugs were found, which are believed to have been ready for purification before being transported. Additionally, more than two tons of chemical supplies were incinerated.

The anti-drug prosecutor’s office supervised the operation, which revealed that the mafias controlled 27 hectares of coca leaf crops. Firearms and satellite communication equipment were also seized, tools used to coordinate their activities in this hard-to-access area, representing a significant impact on their operations, as detailed in our report on the subject.

This sector is critical due to its proximity to routes used by drug trafficking, complicating the authorities’ efforts to combat this issue.
