At least five people were injured in a shooting attack against ‘Route B’ vans in Central Lima. The incident occurred on the night of Sunday, March 22, around 9:00 p.m., at a stop on Avenida Argentina. According to authorities, at least six transport units were stopped when two individuals on a motorcycle opened fire more than ten times. Security camera footage captured the moment passengers attempted to flee the scene while vendors sought shelter.
Among the injured is a fare collector, who was taken to Arzobispo Loayza Hospital and has since been discharged. Other victims sustained injuries to the face and shoulder and were transported to Ramón Castilla Hospital for medical attention.
Minutes after the attack, a message attributed to the criminal gang ‘La Federación’ began circulating among transport workers, warning of future reprisals. “This was a warning,” read the text, urging drivers to align with the organization to avoid further attacks.
The incident has raised significant concern among local residents, who have called for increased security in the area, where other violent incidents have also been reported, including a million-dollar robbery in the Circuito de Playas, which left several injured.
