2026 Election Results: ONPE Confirms 20,000 Vote Difference Between Sánchez and López Aliaga

The National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) has completed the counting of regular ballots in the recent presidential election, achieving a progress rate of 94.452%. With this update, there are no pending ballots left to count. The electoral body is now awaiting the return of the contested ballots from the Special Electoral Jurors (JEE) to finalize the overall count.

In the current scenario, the candidate from Juntos por el Perú, Roberto Sánchez, has managed to distance himself from his competitor Rafael López Aliaga of Renovación Popular by more than 20,000 votes. As of the closing of this edition, Sánchez has received 1,913,335 votes (12.031%), while López Aliaga has garnered 1,892,783 votes (11.904%). Leading the race is Keiko Fujimori from Fuerza Popular, who tops the list with 2,711,453 votes (17.049%) and is the favorite to advance to the second round.

Meanwhile, the JNE has requested that the ONPE expedite the processing of nearly 30,000 contested ballots, as delays could impact the electoral schedule, hindering the official proclamation of the candidates who will proceed in the process. This call to action comes amid a growing atmosphere of anticipation regarding the final results of the elections.
