The presidential candidate of Juntos por el Perú (JPP), Roberto Sánchez, revealed that he has been in discussions with five political parties regarding a possible second electoral round against Keiko Fujimori, representative of Fuerza Popular. During an interview on RPP, Sánchez called on all groups that support democracy to unite in this new political chapter.
Although he did not specify the names of the parties he has spoken with, it is known that Venceremos, Perú Federal, and the Workers and Entrepreneurs Party have expressed their support for his candidacy. Venceremos, for instance, stated that they will defend the electoral results that favor Sánchez, questioning those who attempt to destabilize the democratic process.
Additionally, Sánchez referred to the need to investigate the allegations against the head of the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) and the situation of the president of the Central Reserve Bank (BCR), Julio Velarde. In this regard, he asserted that “no one is indispensable,” although he acknowledged the difficulty of removing Velarde without having a majority in Congress.
