Parliament Candidates: Economic Proposals from Podemos, Renovación Popular, and Avanza País

With just a few weeks until the general elections, parliamentary candidates Gonzalo Alegría from Podemos, Jorge Solís from Renovación Popular, and Aníbal Sánchez from Avanza País debated their parties’ economic proposals at an event organized by RPP. Gonzalo Alegría questioned the commitment to increase education spending from 4% to 8% of GDP, emphasizing the importance of considering the “executability” of these plans. He criticized the AFP system in Peru, labeling it a “great scam,” and argued that many workers do not meet the minimum contribution required to retire.

Meanwhile, Aníbal Sánchez stressed that economic growth is key to a proper budget, suggesting that clear rules and inflation targets should be established. He proposed the creation of a budgetary cushion that would allow for investment in health and education. Finally, Jorge Solís highlighted the need to restructure COFIDE to facilitate loans to micro and small enterprises. He defended his presidential candidate’s proposal to reduce the number of ministries, arguing that this could make the State more efficient.
