López Chau, Grozo, and Sánchez Nominate 23 Candidates with Judicial Sentences

The nomination of candidates with judicial records has gained prominence in the current electoral process. Three parties, led by Alfonso López Chau, Wolfgang Grozo, and Roberto Sánchez, have presented a total of 23 candidates facing sentences, raising serious questions about their selection criteria.

The party Juntos por el Perú, which supports Roberto Sánchez’s presidential candidacy, includes 13 candidates with convictions. Among them is Edgar Rivadeneyra Macedo, sentenced for terrorism, along with several others convicted of aggravated fraud and usurpation of functions.

In the case of Ahora Nación, seven candidates have been identified with convictions for crimes such as domestic violence and failure to provide family support. Wolfgang Grozo, from the party Integridad Democrática, has also faced scrutiny for including three candidates with sentences for illicit appropriation and embezzlement.

Experts have pointed out the need for parties to review their selection criteria to ensure the suitability of their candidates, especially in a context where transparency is crucial.
