Hugo Salazar Chuquimango: ‘The Eternal Return’ Exhibition at ICPNA Until June 28

The exhibition “The Eternal Return” by artist Hugo Salazar Chuquimango is on display at ICPNA until June 28. This showcase highlights his uniqueness in the realm of contemporary visual arts in Lima. Salazar’s work diverges from current trends and evades classifications, proposing an anti-classical approach to his art. Although his work may seem associated with historicist currents, it is built from an internal experience that unfolds progressively.

In his reinterpretation of Rogier van der Weyden’s “The Descent from the Cross,” Salazar provocatively self-portrays himself, confronting themes of narcissism and vulnerability in a contemporary context filled with contradictions. The influence of philosophers such as Friedrich Nietzsche and Carl Gustav Jung is evident in his work. Salazar explores the idea of eternal return, inviting reflection on life and the perception of time. In this sense, his painting becomes a space of challenge and exploration, where every detail comes to life through a meticulous creative process.

The exhibition is located in the Juan Pablo Heeren Space at ICPNA, on Jirón Cusco 446, and offers a unique opportunity to appreciate the richness of Salazar’s artistic proposal. For more details on other cultural events, you can check our coverage on international negotiations here.
