Trump Orders Halt to Attacks on Iranian Energy Infrastructure for 5 Days

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced on Monday the suspension of attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure for a period of five days. This decision follows ‘productive’ talks between both nations that took place in recent days and will continue throughout the week.

Trump communicated his order via his Truth Social account, where he also indicated that the Department of War has been instructed to halt any military offensives in this context. ‘I have instructed the Department of War to postpone all military attacks against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a period of five days, subject to the success of ongoing meetings and discussions,’ the president stated.

This decision comes after his recent threat to Iran, where he warned that he would attack power plants if the country did not fully open the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours. In response, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated that in the event of an attack, drastic measures would be taken, including the complete closure of the strait, which is vital for oil exports from the Persian Gulf.

As we reported in this note, the tense exchange between both nations reflects the complexity of relations in the region.
