Two Dead and Injured After Collision Between Air Canada Plane and Fire Truck in New York

A tragic accident occurred at LaGuardia Airport in New York on the night of Sunday, March 22, when an Air Canada Express plane collided with a fire truck. The collision took place during the landing of the Bombardier CRJ-900, arriving from Montreal, which was carrying 72 passengers and four crew members. The impact resulted in the deaths of the pilot and co-pilot, according to reports from media outlets such as CNN and NBC.

Additionally, dozens of people were injured, including passengers and emergency personnel. More than 40 injured individuals were transported to hospitals, although most were discharged quickly, while some remain under observation for more serious injuries. Authorities have begun an investigation to determine the causes of the accident.

Initial reports indicate that the fire truck had received authorization to cross the runway while responding to a prior emergency. However, recordings from air traffic control show attempts to stop the vehicle before the collision. This incident has raised concerns about aviation safety in the United States, especially following a series of recent accidents on runways.

For the time being, LaGuardia Airport has been temporarily closed, resulting in flight cancellations and diversions, while federal teams such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) initiate investigations.
