War with Iran: What the Pentagon’s Warning and Trump’s Threat Mean

The head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, declared on March 31 that the situation in the war with Iran is at a critical stage. He stated that “the coming days will be decisive” and highlighted that in the last 24 hours, the lowest number of drones and missiles launched by Tehran was recorded. Hegseth added that the United States has attacked over 11,000 targets in the past month.

Amid these tensions, President Donald Trump urged other countries to act boldly in the Strait of Hormuz, asserting that “Iran has essentially been decimated.” Through his Truth Social account, he called for them to take control of the situation and suggested they buy American oil, implying that “they will have to learn to fight for themselves.”

White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt reiterated that the goal of the offensive is not to reopen Hormuz, but to neutralize Iran’s military capabilities. Hegseth also mentioned that negotiations for a peace agreement remain open, but warned that if Iran does not accept Washington’s conditions, the military response will be even more intense.

Additionally, an Iranian missile struck an oil tanker in Dubai, raising uncertainty about security in the region and leading to a surge in oil prices, surpassing $100 per barrel.
