A shooting at the Mariano Moreno Normal School No. 40, located in San Cristóbal, Santa Fe, resulted in a tragic outcome this Monday. A 13-year-old student was killed and two others were injured. The attack occurred around 7:15 a.m., as students were preparing to raise the flag at the start of the school day.
The Secretary of Government of the Municipality of San Cristóbal, Ramiro Muñoz, confirmed that the assailant, a boy aged between 15 and 16, pulled a shotgun from his backpack and fired several times. The violence of the attack left one student critically injured, who was transported to a hospital in Rafaela, while the other sustained minor injuries.
The situation created a scene of chaos, with students running in panic. Teachers at the school described the attacker as a good student, which has surprised the educational community. Local authorities have declared two days of mourning and suspended classes at all levels. The Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, still yet to determine if the attack was premeditated.
