Felipe Chávez Explains His Decision Not to Join Peru’s National Team for Friendlies

Felipe Chávez, the 18-year-old footballer, has decided not to participate in the upcoming friendlies of the Peruvian national team scheduled against Senegal and Honduras. His decision has sparked interest, especially following his recent stint at Bayern Munich. The midfielder explained his reasons in an interview with the German portal Express24.

“While it is a great honor and recognition of my sporting achievements, I consciously decided not to play with the Peruvian national team,” Chávez stated. He argued that his priority is “to provide the best possible support to my club during this challenging stage of the season.” His focus will be on helping FC Köln in their goal to remain in the league.

Chávez’s absence from Mano Menezes’ call-up has led to speculation about who will fill his position in midfield. Other notable players who were not considered include Piero Quispe and Paolo Guerrero, who also generate expectations among fans. The Peruvian national team will face Senegal on March 28 and Honduras on March 31. For more details about these friendlies, visit our article on the Bicolor matches.
