Agustín Lozano Announces Farewell for Paolo Guerrero from the Peruvian National Team: ‘The Moment to Begin Will Come’

Agustín Lozano, president of the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF), announced that plans are being organized for the official farewell of Paolo Guerrero, the historic forward of the Peruvian national team. Lozano emphasized that Guerrero, who has defended the national colors for over 20 years, deserves a tribute worthy of his career. “Undoubtedly, he deserves it, Paolo. I believe the moment to begin will come,” Lozano expressed regarding the event, which could take place before the end of the year.

At 42 years old, Guerrero remains a key figure at Alianza Lima, although his absence from the recent call-up by coach Mano Menezes has raised questions about his definitive exit from the national team. The FPF president also addressed the upcoming friendly matches for the national team, confirming a match in Mexico against Spain and others that are still under negotiation. “We will see what Jean Ferrari, the director of football, can manage, and it will be announced later,” Lozano added.

On the national team’s schedule for 2026, three friendlies are confirmed: Peru vs. Senegal on March 28, Peru vs. Honduras on March 31, and Peru vs. Spain on June 8.
