The Senegal national team defeated Peru 2-0 in an international friendly held at the Stade de France. Despite the loss, Senegalese coach Pape Thiaw emphasized the respect that the Peruvian team deserves and sent a message to his colleague Mano Menezes. Thiaw acknowledged that Peru is in a rebuilding process and is striving to regain its best performance.
The African coach praised the presence of the Senegalese fans and commented on the experience of playing in such an iconic stadium. “It was a great experience to see the entire Senegalese diaspora present in this legendary stadium. A match that ends 2-0 with good feelings against a strong Peruvian team,” Thiaw expressed at the press conference.
On his part, Menezes reflected his frustration over the difference in the FIFA ranking, where Peru is in 53rd place and Senegal in 12th. “We faltered on details that are normal at this stage. We need to better capitalize on offensive transitions,” stated the Brazilian coach.
The Peruvian national team will play again on Tuesday, March 31, facing Honduras at the Municipal Stadium of Butarque, as part of their preparation for future competitions.
