A shooting attack against a combi serving the Lima-Callao route left five people injured, including the vehicle’s collector and four passengers. The incident occurred at block 1 of Avenida Argentina, where two assailants on a motorcycle opened fire while the vehicle was parked. Security cameras in the area recorded the moment of the attack. After firing, the attackers fled towards Callao, while bystanders sought refuge amid the panic caused by the gunfire.
According to reports, the collector was taken to the National Hospital Arzobispo Loayza and has since been discharged. Meanwhile, three passengers were transported to EsSalud II Ramón Castilla and one to Alberto Sabogal Hospital. The condition of the injured is serious, with some sustaining bullet wounds to the face and chest.
The police have cordoned off the area and found ten bullet casings, suggesting the possibility of an extortion case related to fee collection. This attack adds to other recent incidents of insecurity in the capital, such as the million-dollar robbery in San Miguel, where gold bars were stolen and there were injuries.
