A security guard was the victim of a shooting attack in San Martín de Porres, Lima, while near his post. The incident occurred in the Vipol urbanization, where 27-year-old Robbie Williams Rodríguez Ortiz was shot multiple times by an assailant who managed to escape the scene. Authorities reported that nine bullet casings were found at the site. Rodríguez Ortiz was urgently transferred to Cayetano Heredia Hospital, where he remains in intensive care.
Investigations are underway, and the police are awaiting the arrival of forensic personnel to carry out the necessary procedures. Relatives of the victim suggest that the attack may have been a mistake, as Rodríguez Ortiz has a twin brother. One of his relatives commented that the brother had had an argument with foreign nationals days before, who allegedly threatened to take revenge. “I assume it’s because of his brother, not because of him, because he is very calm,” she indicated.
The context of this tragedy adds to other violent situations that have occurred in the capital, such as the recent robbery of S/22,000 in Lurín, reflecting a worrying increase in insecurity in the area.
