Could Have Been a Tragedy: Tree Falls on Bus Carrying Schoolchildren in Jesús María [Video]

An alarming incident occurred on the morning of March 28 in Jesús María when a tree collapsed onto a bus transporting a group of schoolchildren. The vehicle was on Faustino Sánchez Carrión Avenue, heading to Cristo Rey school, when the tree suddenly fell from the central berm. Fortunately, the impact of the trunk did not cause severe damage to the roof of the bus, preventing a potential tragedy. At the time of the accident, approximately 15 students were on board, along with the driver. “There was traffic, I was passing by and suddenly felt the tree fall,” recounted the driver, who confirmed that the children, aged between 8 and 13 years, were unharmed.

Following the incident, traffic on the avenue was disrupted while the bus and the tree were removed. To restore circulation, one of the lanes in the opposite direction was opened. By the time this report was closed, the situation on the road had returned to normal. This accident adds to other recent incidents in the area, such as a bus collision that left at least 25 injured on Brazil Avenue, raising concerns among residents about road safety in the locality.
