A man approximately 35 years old lost his life after being struck by a train from the Ferrocarril Central Andino in El Agustino, Lima. The accident occurred on Ferrocarril Avenue, where, according to witnesses, the victim fell asleep on the tracks, apparently under the influence of alcohol, and did not hear the warning bells. “He seemed to be crossing and fell asleep. According to neighbors, he was drunk,” commented a witness of the tragic event.
Although he was not carrying identification documents, the victim was wearing blue jeans, a red t-shirt, and black shoes. Police officers and forensic experts arrived at the scene to recover the body. Neighbors expressed their concern, indicating that this is not the first accident to occur in the area. The lack of lighting on the streetlights has contributed to a series of incidents, including thefts and accidents, in an area that also has nearby schools.
It is important to remember that trespassing on train tracks is considered a crime, with fines that can reach 284 soles and prison sentences, according to Article 283 of the penal code.
