Protection Measures Today: Judge Assists Young Deaf-Mute Victim of Violence

Judge Mary Aguilar Mamani, from the 6th Court of the Integrated Judicial Module of the Superior Court of Justice of Arequipa, has implemented protection measures for a 20-year-old deaf-mute young woman who has been a victim of physical and psychological violence by her father. The father, identified as Carlos V.M., allegedly threatened the young woman’s mother with poisoning if she did not agree to resume their relationship.

According to reports, the father attempted to transport the young woman without her consent to the city of Moquegua. In an effort to escape the situation, the young woman jumped from the moving vehicle, sustaining an injury to her right leg after being struck by her father’s car.

In light of this serious situation, the magistrate issued urgent measures that were communicated to the young woman through a sign language interpreter, ensuring her understanding of the content and scope of the resolution. The proceedings included the participation of interpreter Sandra Rojas Chullo and other judicial officials, reaffirming the commitment to provide accessible care focused on protecting the most vulnerable victims.
