A serious medical error has sparked controversy at Real Madrid. According to a report by The Athletic, the club’s doctors performed an MRI on the wrong leg of Kylian Mbappé, incorrectly diagnosing his knee injury. After the initial analysis, the captain of the French national team continued to play three matches, despite the actual injury being in his left leg, where a partial tear of the posterior ligament of the knee was discovered. This mistake led the forward to play under compromised conditions, scoring four goals in those matches before the true nature of his injury was revealed.
On December 31, the club issued a medical report mentioning a knee sprain, although it did not detail the severity of the injury. So far, Real Madrid and Mbappé’s representatives have not responded to requests for comments regarding this incident, leaving the player’s situation in suspense. The first symptoms of the injury emerged on December 7, 2025, during a match against Celta de Vigo. Since then, Mbappé has faced several difficulties in his performance, as reported in other analyses of his physical condition.
