Atlanta United has made a $3.5 million offer for Peruvian midfielder Erick Noriega, who is in his second season with Gremio of Porto Alegre. Noriega, who has solidified his place as a starter on the Brazilian team, has shown outstanding performance, becoming a key player for the squad. According to reports from GZH, the American club’s proposal comes at a time when Noriega has been alternating between starting and sitting on the bench.
However, the negotiation faces obstacles due to the difference between the offer and the price demanded by Gremio. The Brazilian club expects to receive more than $8 million for 90% of the player’s economic rights. Atlanta United’s interest comes just days before the closing of the transfer market in MLS, scheduled for March 26.
Noriega has played a total of 28 matches in Brazil, accumulating one goal and three assists, in addition to winning a title with Gremio. Earlier this month, the player expressed his commitment to the club, stating: “I am very focused here.” For more details on Noriega’s performance, you can read about his evolution at Gremio in our article on the impact of Peruvian players in Brazil.
