Sport Huancayo has decided to give Richard Pellejero a new opportunity, as he returns as the team’s head coach following the departure of Roberto Mosquera. The club, currently sitting in fifteenth place in Liga1 2026 with only 7 points, is looking to turn its situation around after a series of negative results that include just two victories in eight matches.
The news was announced through the club’s social media, where Pellejero was welcomed back, highlighting his familiarity with the institution. “Welcome back, ‘profe’! He knows the club, understands what it represents, and is here to take on the challenge. It’s time to rise up,” the post stated.
Pellejero previously managed Sport Huancayo in the 2025 season and has experience with other Uruguayan teams such as Miramar and Sud América. His playing career includes stints with clubs like Nacional and Danubio.
The decision for Mosquera to step down was described as a personal choice, seeking new opportunities for the team.
