A 38-year-old woman, identified as María del Carmen Jiménez, lost her life in a tragic accident that occurred on Wednesday, April 8, in Chorrillos. The incident took place on Avenida Occidental, where a truck, apparently without brakes, crashed into the gate of her home at high speed. Security camera footage shows the impact that left the vehicle embedded against the wall.
The driver of the car, Ema Oscos, was taken to Casimiro Ulloa Hospital due to the serious injuries she sustained. Meanwhile, her mother, who was traveling as a passenger, survived thanks to the activation of the vehicle’s airbag. Neighbors report that Jiménez had just stepped out to close the gate when the accident occurred. “She was bringing in a car, and as she stepped out to put the key in, the car came at full speed and hit her,” commented a resident of the area.
After the incident, local residents expressed their concern about the lack of road safety measures, such as speed bumps, that could help reduce vehicle speeds. “There is no signage, and unfortunately, this is causing accidents,” added another neighbor. According to reports, this is not the first serious incident in the area, prompting residents to request prompt intervention from the authorities.
