A large rock landslide has blocked kilometer 97 of the Central Highway, near the province of Huarochirí in the Lima highlands. This incident occurred on Thursday, April 9, and has left numerous transporters stranded on the road, which connects Lima with Huancayo and other regions in the center of the country. Authorities have restricted the passage of all types of vehicles to prevent accidents while rainfall continues in the area.
The landslide was reported in the Infiernillo sector, in the district of San Mateo de Huanchor, where rocks have covered the road. Machinery from the company Deviandes is expected to arrive soon to carry out cleanup operations and reopen the Central Highway.
