Accident at Nevado Rajutay TODAY: Young Veterinarian in Coma and Family Demands Justice

A tragic accident that occurred on March 22 on the route to Nevado Rajuntay has left a young veterinarian in a coma and claimed the life of her father. The minivan from the company Adventure Travelero Perú EIRL skidded off the road in Casapalca, Huarochirí, resulting in the death of Aldo Martínez Ceballos and leaving 22-year-old Melissa Martínez critically injured. Survivors report that the vehicle had mechanical failures prior to the accident and that the driver was unfamiliar with the route. Despite the passengers’ concerns, the decision was made to continue the journey.

Claudia Martínez, Melissa’s aunt, expressed her outrage at the lack of safety measures and the company’s refusal to cover medical expenses, which have already exceeded S/30,000. Investigations reveal that the vehicle’s technical inspection had expired since 2024, and the agency lacked the necessary permits from Mincetur. “We don’t know if they have access to go up,” Claudia stated in an interview. Additionally, it has been confirmed that six other young people traveling in the same minivan are also in critical condition. The family demands justice for Aldo’s death and for Melissa’s health, who has undergone surgery on her spine. “She was a girl full of life and dreams,” her aunt concluded.
