Closure of Lima’s Historic Center TODAY: Vehicle Detours and Alternate Routes

The Metropolitan Municipality of Lima has announced a vehicle detour plan in the Historic Center from April 2 to April 5, as part of the Holy Week celebrations. The restriction will be implemented between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., aiming to facilitate the movement of thousands of worshippers visiting the area’s churches. The closure will affect the perimeter of the Damero de Pizarro, known for being one of the busiest points during this festivity.

The municipality seeks to ensure safety and organize traffic, allowing for smooth movement for both pedestrians and vehicles. Recommended alternate routes include Abancay and Emancipación avenues, as well as Jirón Amazonas. Control points will also be established where municipal personnel will guide drivers and monitor traffic to prevent congestion, thus ensuring vehicular flow in the area.

Drivers are advised to avoid entering restricted areas and to plan their routes in advance. For more details on the development of religious activities, you can check the coverage at this link.
