An explosion at an ATM location in Lurín left residents stunned in the early hours of Monday, March 30. The incident, which occurred at kilometer 40 of the Panamericana Sur, near a natural gas vehicle (GNV) station, was caused by criminals who stole at least S/22,000. The blast took place in an area known as Chapeta, in front of the complex of the same name.
After receiving reports of the explosion, the National Police of Peru (PNP) arrived at the scene and assessed the material damage, finding banknotes scattered on the ground. Authorities reported that the ATM machines suffered partial damage. Investigations have already begun, with the PNP reviewing security cameras in the area to identify those responsible.
Fortunately, the explosion did not cause damage to the GNV station, thus preventing a greater tragedy. The Criminal Investigation Department of Lurín will handle the case.
