Alfonso López Chau TODAY: Massive Support in Cusco and Puno

Alfonso López Chau has garnered significant support in Cusco and Puno in the week leading up to the general elections. During his visit to Plaza Santiago in Cusco, the presidential candidate addressed a crowd that cheered him on, while yesterday he held a caravan in Ayavirí, Puno. His speech focused on the freedom for those labeled as political prisoners, who participated in protests against the government of Dina Boluarte between December 2022 and February 2023. “We will propose a way for those young people to be pardoned, as well as President Castillo,” promised López Chau, generating enthusiasm among his supporters.

Additionally, he emphasized the importance of social struggles in Puno, stating that there is an accumulated social energy in the country that must be valued. The candidate also announced plans to strengthen family agriculture, including the installation of 300,000 reservoirs and the provision of tractors to farmers. The main date for his campaign closing is scheduled for Thursday, April 9, at Plaza Dos de Mayo in Lima, where a large turnout of supporters is expected. As reported in this note, other candidates are also finalizing their campaigning activities in preparation for the end of the electoral campaign.
