IEP Survey 2026: 30% of Voters Undecided 9 Days Before Elections

With only nine days left until the elections, 30% of voters remain undecided, according to the latest survey by the Instituto de Estudios Peruanos (IEP). This figure represents a notable decrease compared to the 45% recorded in early January, indicating progress in the electorate’s decision-making process. With voting scheduled for April 12, 70% of respondents have already chosen a candidate, a significant increase from the 56% who showed this trend in January.

Among the 30% who are still undecided, the breakdown is as follows: 17% are unsure, 9% prefer none, 3% choose blank/null, and 1% will not vote. Despite the proximity of the elections, 73% of respondents reported not having watched the presidential debates, which were designed to help voters evaluate the candidates’ proposals.

Among those who have already made their choice, 77% of Keiko Fujimori’s supporters and 78% of Roberto Sánchez’s supporters are confident in their decision, suggesting a consolidation of votes for these candidates. The survey also indicates that more than half of voters, 55%, plan to vote for the same party in the senatorial and congressional elections, reinforcing the trend towards party unity in electoral decision-making.
