Iran Acknowledges Contacts with the United States, but Denies Formal Conversations.

The spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Ismail Bagaei, announced on Monday that, although they have received messages from the United States requesting negotiations to end the war, there are no active dialogues between the two countries. In statements to the state agency IRNA, Bagaei clarified that no negotiations have taken place in the last 24 days, reaffirming the Islamic Republic’s stance regarding the Strait of Hormuz and the conditions for ending the conflict.

“Messages have been received through some friendly countries,” the official indicated, who also emphasized that the responses to the United States included warnings about the consequences of any aggression towards Iran’s infrastructure. According to Bagaei, any attack on Iranian energy facilities would be met with a strong reaction from the Armed Forces.

These statements come after U.S. President Donald Trump announced the start of negotiations and ordered a five-day postponement of attacks on Iranian energy infrastructure. According to Trump, his envoys have been in contact with a respected Iranian politician, although not with the country’s supreme leader.
