Sudamericana Cup: Fabián Bustos Criticizes Millonarios After 2-0 Defeat

Fabián Bustos, coach of Millonarios, did not hide his disappointment after the 2-0 defeat against O’Higgins in the Sudamericana Cup. In his first participation in the group stage, the former Universitario de Deportes coach expressed harsh criticism towards the performance of his players. The Argentine, who took over the position at the beginning of 2026, apologized to the fans for his team’s performance.

“We started the first 20 minutes very lightly, we were losing duels, we didn’t play well. Then we improved, we balanced out being a goal down,” Bustos commented in the post-match press conference. However, he acknowledged that the team showed doubts and a lack of fluidity in their play. “I present excuses to the fans because this is not the match we wanted to play. Today I did not feel identified with the team, and surely the fans did not either,” he added.

This defeat left Millonarios at the bottom of Group C, alongside O’Higgins and Sao Paulo, both with 3 points, while Boston River remains without points. Millonarios’ next challenge will be the crucial match against Independiente Santa Fe this Sunday, April 12, where they will seek a victory to improve their position in the local league.
