Lima woke up this Friday, April 10, with an overcast sky and a slight chill, following several days of intense heat. According to the National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology (Senamhi), these conditions are more typical of the autumn season currently experienced in the Peruvian capital. Senamhi indicated that the phenomenon is due to the South Pacific Anticyclone, which is causing winds towards the coast.
This situation has led the agency to issue a yellow alert for Lima and much of the Peruvian coast, warning of an increase in wind speed, which can range from light to moderate intensity. Additionally, these conditions are expected to generate dust and sand lifting, as well as a reduction in visibility.
For Saturday, April 11, winds of up to 32 km/h are forecasted for the northern coast and 38 km/h for the Ica coast, maintaining this pattern until Monday, April 13. This climatic change adds to the orange alert previously issued for temperatures of ‘moderate to strong intensity’ along the coast, raising concerns among citizens.
