Police Dismantle ‘The Black Hoods of the Northern Cone’: Details of the Operation and Arrests

The National Police of Peru (PNP) has recently dismantled the criminal gang known as ‘The Black Hoods of the Northern Cone’, involved in extorting business owners. In a simultaneous operation carried out in Lima and Callao, authorities arrested four alleged members of this organization. The arrests took place in the districts of Santa Anita and Independencia, as well as in Ventanilla, in the constitutional province of Callao.

The PNP identified the detainees as Brigit Z. (28), Juan Z. (46), Félix T. (19), and Lorena F. (34). According to the information provided, they are believed to be involved in extortion and two attacks on the home of a businesswoman in Northern Lima, using explosives and incendiary devices. During the intervention, agents found five mobile phones, bank cards, and cash, which are believed to be related to the collection of extortion payments.

This operation adds to other recent efforts by the PNP, such as the dismantling of the ‘Accounts of Fear’ network, which was also dedicated to extorting transportation companies, accumulating over nine million soles in extortions, as reported in this note.
