Cerro Porteño vs Sporting Cristal: Ariel Holan reveals his interest in Yoshimar Yotún

The coach of Cerro Porteño, Ariel Holan, expressed his admiration for Yoshimar Yotún, a player from Sporting Cristal, whom he has attempted to sign on several occasions. Following his team’s recent defeat in the Copa Libertadores, Holan commented on his relationship with Yotún, stating: “I sought him for other clubs at some point. I had spoken with him before and I have that good relationship.” This bond was evident during their greeting at the end of the match.

Despite his interest, negotiations never materialized, even when Holan was coaching Universidad Católica in Chile in 2023. Regarding his team’s performance, the coach was not surprised by Sporting Cristal’s victory, asserting: “We started last Wednesday, I have had three training sessions and now three matches. We need to work internally to strengthen ourselves in both competitions.” Holan also addressed the controversial red card given to Cecilio Domínguez, indicating that he could not see the play and that it was confusing. He acknowledged that his initial plan was affected from the early minutes of the match and lamented the lack of clarity from his team during the game. “It was not the expected night; we have to bounce back,” he concluded.
