Christian Cueva has expressed his desire to return to the Peruvian National Team, an ambition he shared during his conversation with Ricardo Gareca at the launch of his podcast “La Sustancia.” The midfielder, who has been away from the national team call-ups, appeared hopeful about his future with the team led by Mano Menezes. “Since I was a child, I dreamed of representing my country. I have always wanted to be on the national team and give my best,” Cueva commented, who also acknowledged the challenges he has faced in being considered again.
“Not being part of the Peruvian National Team is very difficult, but I understand that I need to do a personal analysis of what has happened,” he added. Upon hearing Cueva, Ricardo Gareca offered him encouraging advice: “If you manage to get focused and dedicated, you will surely be on Mano Menezes’ radar. Players like you are rare.” The former coach of the national team also emphasized the importance of learning from both failures and successes to maintain emotional balance in sports. Cueva’s hope of returning to the national team remains strong, and he is determined to work on his performance to fulfill his dream.
