Petroperú: Who is Edmundo Lizarzaburu, the new Chairman of the Board?

The state-owned company Petroperú announced the removal of Roger Arévalo as Chairman of the Board, just one month after his appointment. In his place, Edmundo Lizarzaburu will assume the role starting May 3, 2026, according to a significant event communicated to the Superintendence of the Securities Market (SMV). The decision was made during a General Shareholders’ Meeting held on May 2.

Lizarzaburu, an industrial engineer with a Global MBA, holds a PhD in Management (Cum Laude) from Carlos III University of Madrid. He is also a PhD candidate in Economics at the University of Valladolid. With over 24 years of experience in areas such as finance and risk management, he has worked in key sectors like energy and hydrocarbons. His career includes consultancy roles for the Government of Canada, the World Bank, and other national and international entities. In these roles, he focused on implementing transparency frameworks and policies aligned with international standards.
