Peruvian Cinema: Jimena Lindo Discusses Its Magic and Resilience

The actress Jimena Lindo, known for her work in film, theater, and television, reflected on the state of Peruvian cinema in a recent interview. “Cinema is magical because it is absolute resistance,” she stated, highlighting the strength and narrative of regional cinema. Lindo, who is currently filming the telenovela Señora del destino, is also preparing to pay tribute to the great masters of acting with her project Grandes Maestros Latam. During the conversation, the actress expressed her admiration for artists like Ricardo Blume and the influence they have had on her career. “It is a recognition that arises from the need to preserve the artistic legacy of those who have made us who we are,” she added.

Regarding the political situation, Lindo commented that it is difficult to disconnect from the current state of the country. “The origin of politics is to seek the common good, and we are in the antithesis,” she noted, referring to the corruption and issues facing Peruvian society. “What I have learned is that there are bad people in politics,” she concluded. As for audiovisual production, the actress believes there must be a joint effort to improve fiction on television and explore more streaming platforms, which could benefit the industry as a whole.
