Michael Patrick Campbell, ‘Game of Thrones’ Actor, Passes Away at 35 After ALS Battle

The Northern Irish actor Michael Patrick Campbell has passed away at the age of 35 in a hospital in Northern Ireland, following a long battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). His wife, Naomi Sheehan, confirmed the sad news on her social media, expressing her deep sorrow and recalling their shared moments. “Mick was admitted ten days ago and passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends,” Naomi stated, accompanying her message with an emotional photograph of the couple.

Campbell, known for his role as a wild troublemaker in the sixth season of Game of Thrones, was diagnosed with ALS in February 2023. His career particularly shone in theater, where in 2024 he received recognition for his portrayal of Richard III in a wheelchair. This role made him the first disabled actor to play this part in Ireland, earning him the jury award at the Stage Awards.

The Lyric Theatre in Belfast, where Campbell had excelled in his career, paid tribute to his talent and strength in the face of adversity. “We have lost a great artist,” expressed the theatre’s executive producer, Jimmy Fay. This loss has left a profound mark on the artistic community, who mourn the departure of a talented actor and an inspiring human being.
